wii creation resources...
I've been working on a "top secret" project for the Nintendo Wii, so here's some of my research I've compiled, because I love you all!
- A Wii SDK (Software Development Kit) costs around $1700, which is super cheap compared to other platforms (the Playstation 3 SDK is around $50,000). Here's how to apply for one...
- Here's a tutorial on how to use Live Move's motion recognizers(which comes with the SDK) to tell you what users are doing with their wii controllers...
- The official site of AiLive and LiveMove.
- ALSO! I've found this site which allows you to play interactive games via the wiimote (the wii controller) through flash actionscripting, thus keeping everything dynamic online. This would save the time in actually developing a full blown application. Also, creating a "wii channel" is probably out of the question, since you have to get approval from Nintendo and they only have approved and use their own channels for now. If you're curious as to what a channel is, here's the answer.
- This guy at DustyPixels has messing around with his wiimote and flash and managed to get it to communicate with flash using all the motion sensing functionality and buttons, there's a video on it too.
- Pixel Frames has managed to try and wrange all the usefull knowledge from blogs and stuff concerning flash and wii interactivity.
- wiiCade.com has released an API that allows you to adapt flash games to use on the wiimote, here's an article on it.
- A handy web design guide for the wii browswer.
- Wii only supports Flash 7 for now, although in a month a new Opera browser will be released and possibly will support 9.
- An article on how to make the wiimote work in flash from quasimondo and yet another article.
- Here's a gesture recognition test in the flash player to be tested on the wii.
- Flash games to play on the wii.
- Lastly... Duck Hunt!

indie film log #2
So last night I went with Alex to scout out the opening scene for our film. Below are a couple of test shots, and we pretty much decided to storyboard the film out through photography.
Our "must do" list for next week includes buying a dolly and setting it up with a shock absorbent platform made of foam, finalizing the script, scouting out the rest of the locations and storyboarding them, meet up with our wardrobe specialist, create a schedule/calendar, and find remaining cast members.

Paris/Japan collab
The creative photographer unit of Zoren Gold and Minori share the curiosity of "how to push the boundary of photography" as an image creation, has lead them to start mixing photography with other mediums such as drawings, collage, hand-made props, and computer graphics.

indie film log #1
We finished 90% of the script last weekend so we're going for it. My good friend Alex and I have been writing a short film story over the past year, with the working title "Wetback". It consists of 4 intertwining story lines between the nameless faces of a mexican man, russian girl, asian woman and an Islamic man. We have no budget, no permits to film anywhere, but we do have a kick-ass camera (DVX-100B) and nothing is stopping us. Since the film consists of 4 parts, we'll be shooting one part per weekend. At that rate we should be complete filming/editing by April. This weekend we'll be scouting out for prime locations which include a factory, long street with phonebooth, two dark moody apartments, a pre-school, neon club and a mosque.
If you're in the Atlanta area, we have the following roles available for casting auditions:
Large Redneck Man, Young Russian Woman, Russian Man, Asian Salon Worker, Older Asian Woman, Young (5ish) Asian Boy, and an Arabic Man.
Please contact me if you're interested. No pay, but we'll have a good time and it will possibly make you super famous. Good night and I'll be posting more soon on our progress and the making a dolly/tripod contraption similar to this little bugger on the right -->

Greater Mitosis
My mind is melting. Incredible talent from Brendan Monroe currently exhibiting his work at Art Prostitute Gallery.
Dream Detective
The new film Paprika looks pretty trippy, check out the trailer.
Synopsis: 29 year old Dr. Atsuko Chiba is an attractive but modest Japanese research psychotherapist whose work is on the cutting edge of her field. Her alter-ego is a stunning and fearless 18 year old “dream detective,” code named PAPRIKA, who can enter into people’s dreams and synchronize with their unconscious to help uncover the source of their anxiety or neurosis.
My Body is a Cage
Wow! This music video from the new Arcade Fire album is simply amazing, taken from an old western starring Charles Bronson.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force
This awesome violent classic game that draws you in with the constantly satisfying massacre of the zombie Carls. Nice little puzzles have been thrown in too to make it one of the most simple and addictive games I've played in quite awhile.
