Keylight research...

So I've been doing alot of research for the best way of saving out green screen footage. Here's what I have so far:

Keylight, a plugin for in Adobe After Effects seems like the best option so far, and it comes pre-installed. Found two good tutorials on it - VideoCopilot.net and Adobe Design Center, and also the User Manuel is a great little book too.

greenscreen progress...

So removing the wrinkles from the screen was easier than I thought. First I ironed it, then rigged medium binder clips and rubber bands to stretch it out. Next comes the hardest part - the lights.

keeping busy

Last night I set up a 12x10 ft chroma key screen in the gallery. I still need to iron out the wrinkles, buy a couple of side lights, and invest in a softbox. My goal is to be up and running by the 1st of the year.

music video progress... (#5)

Just found out an amazing new feature in Final Cut Pro 6 called "Smooth Cam" which automatically stabilizes shaky footage! So basically no need for an expensive clunky GlideCam. Here's a great little tutorial on how it works.

music video progress... (#4)

Our main goal right now is to find a small bedroom to film the main scenes. Ideally it will have stunning wallpaper, something along the lines of Lotta K, Nama Rococo, or Flavor style.

A few more good quotes...

"...it's easy to talk the talk and then not produce anything when push comes to shove. Nine out of ten times hard work trumps skill and talent."
- Amir H. Fallah, Founder of Beautiful/Decay

"It's so important to work with a small group of the very best. Anything [but the best], and collaboration risks dragging a good idea down to the lowest common denominator."
- Elliot Kealoha Blanchard

Incomplete Manifesto of Bruce Mau

A few of my favorites include:

#2. Forget about good. Good is a known quantity. Good is what we all agree on. Growth is not necessarily good. Growth is an exploration of unlit recesses that may or may not yield to our research. As long as you stick to good you'll never have real growth.

18. Stay up late. Strange things happen when you’ve gone too far, been up too long, worked too hard, and you're separated from the rest of the world.

29. Think with your mind. Forget technology. Creativity is not device-dependent.
