Since RES magazine has been suspended finding a good DVD short film/music video magazine's has been nearly impossible. I had nearly given up until I stumbled upon Specialten Mag. Also check out Specialten.TV their free online tv channel.
Cute Extra short directed by Jonathan Baker... my only complaint is the actor is completely indifferent to the incredibly cute things going on around him.

We will be shooting a short film (in Atlanta) that is a homage to director John Woo's "Hard Boiled". We need around 20 asian men for extras for an intense shootout scene with our "hero" character. This is a great experience and film portfolio opportunity since this may be aired on Spike TV.
Great interview/slideshow at the Guardian where Peter Walker talks to North Korea expert Nick Bonner and photographer Charlie Crane. Check out their new book with photographs from North Korea's capital, Pyongyang.
Artist: "This piece is part of a line of work I have been developing over the last year or so, which is called "Urban Impressionism", in which represent 3D objects in 2-Dimensions through shadows. These shadows are created at a particular point of day, or night, and later stenciled and spray-painted in order to resemble real shadows. Through this process I am able to discuss light and form, in an unconventional way, placing it directly on the streets of the contemporary urban "cityscape" that surrounds us.
Ideally I hope to create a moment of magic or illusion in which the spectator or passer-by questions the space around him/her, through the shadows that are either naturally cast or artificially created. This particular piece incorporates text to politicize a very important issue for many of us today- the end of the war in many regions of our globalized world.
PS. I noticed that on the site, the piece had been mistakenly tagged as a "chalk" piece... The piece itself is was stenciled on the floor using a shadow cast by a light post at night, and later carefully sprayed with a 'camouflage black' can."
Ok, I'm officially addicted to this amazing Japanese game "Doukutsu Monogatari" or "Cave Story".
The Japanese game company Pixel spent five years making this game as fun and as great as it is by adding solid controls, smooth gameplay, a great cast of characters and dialogue, an interesting plot, good music and beautiful old-school 2-D artwork. And on top of all this added multiple endings, several boss battles, tons of items to collect, all kinds of added secret bonuses and special challenges, various and considerably different methods of playing through the game depending on your actions, competition ranking features and an extremely high replay value. Check it out!
This film premieres at Cannes this week and is based on the best-selling graphic novels by Marjane Satrapi. The book series is extremely moving and the film will be voice acted by Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni. Read the books now!
The Mr. Show's co-creator Bob Odenkirk has a hilarious new series up at SuperDeluxe called Derek & Simon... look forward to more coming up in the next few weeks!
I love Christy Karacas, he's one of my all time favorite animators of all time. His latest project is "SUPER JAIL!" he created for AdultSwim. Watch it now!

4 years ago I started this blog, writing about the people who inspire me, logging progress on music video and short film productions, branching off into an art gallery, and interviewing creatives.
