friday last minute...

Today we knocked out a ton of stuff on our list, including finally hanging the art, landscaping the front, created dividers, put up final turf sign, finished the merch table, cleaned up, replaced bulbs, and way more than I can type here.

To make things better, my buddy Matt swung by and helped out, here he is applying the final touches to the turf sign...

I'm finally feeling happy with how the place looks and can't wait for tomorrow night...

I'll keep you guys updated on the progress... t-shirts are being delivered tomorrow and I'm picking up the art on Friday (talk about last minute!). I have a huge list of other things, but I don't think they would fit in this entry

...future show at the gallery

I'm planning a future show (mid '08) at Hushpuppy Gallery that will feature Moss Graffiti... still working out the details, but in the meantime, check out this starter:

* Take a clump (a small handful) of healthy moss and crumble it into a blender.

* Add 2 cups of buttermilk, 2 cups of water, 1/2 tsp. sugar

* Blend at the lowest speed until it is completely mixed and the consistency of a thin milk shake (add water if necessary)

* Paint the mixture onto wherever you'd like your moss to grow

Here are a few more detailed sites for you... Ideas Factory & Heavy Petal. For some inspiration, check out the work of street artist Edina Tokodi.

La Planète sauvage (Fantastic Planet)

Rene Laloux directed this animated sci-fi classic, a band of humans -- known as Oms -- are kept as domesticated pets by an alien race of blue humanoid giants called Traags. Said to be based on the Soviet occupation of the Czech Republic, the film nabbed the Grand Prix at Cannes and is one of the best animated movies ever made.

Pretty funny parody for the "new" version of Paint, this year's "must-have killer app".

Bioshock is amazing

I usually find it easy to ignore the uninspired videogame world and constant titles that underwhelm, but last night I was in awe after playing the demo for the upcoming game Bioshock. The art direction is mind-blowing, the story, ambience, and soundtrack are all stunning as well. I've never been so impressed by the artistic direction from a game before. Check out the free art book you can download from the art team.
