Kallwejt

Warsaw based illustrator/graphic designer Jan Feliks Kallwejt runs a one-man studio focusing on illustration, apparel design and personal projects which finds form which is simple, but not banal, and rich with symbolics. Hence many of his works are strictly iconographic in their essence, and very impressive... keep up the great work!

If you're in Atlanta, go to this!

On Saturday, April 19, Criminal Records will celebrate the first annual Record Store Day along with hundreds of independently-owned record stores across the country. Record Store Day is a national movement to bring awareness to the unique culture of record stores and to highlight the special place that they occupy in their local communities.

The day-long event at Criminal Records will feature performances by Anna Kramer & the Lost Cause, Andy Hull (from Manchester Orchestra), Bobby & the Soft Spots, The Bridges, The Coathangers, Club Awesome, Dead Confederate, Hope For Agoldensummer, Judi Chicago, Janelle Monae, Noot d' Noot, Ocha La Rocha, Single Malt Solution, Suitcases, and Trances Arc, as well as DJ sets (by the likes of DJ Sars, Zano, Chad Rad, Chris Devoe, and Tommy from the Selmanaires) in between the live acts.

In addition to the musical entertainment, several Atlanta-based record labels (Die Slaughterhaus, Douchemaster Records, International Hits, New Street Records, Rob's House Records, and Stickfigure Distribution) will set up booths to sell their wares, offer advice, compare tattoos, and swap recipes. The Girls' Rock Camp (ATL) organizers will also have an information and registration table for their summer camp. Orange Amps, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Super Deluxe are official sponsors of the Record Store Day celebration at Criminal Records.

Many records labels have produced exclusive releases especially for the inaugural Record Store Day. One noteworthy example is Matador Records/Beggars Group, which will be releasing limited edition records by Stephen Malkmus, The Breeders, Vampire Weekend, and The Teenagers, along with an Arthur Russell covers album and a Matador turntable mat. These items will be available for sale only at indie record stores like Criminal Records.

Criminal Records will also host a vinyl record swap meet, where customers can bring their unwanted albums and trade with others. Of course, there will be the requisite sidewalk sale filled with bargains galore, along with giveaways throughout the day. April 19th will also be the kick-off date for a metro-Atlanta indie record store scavenger hunt.

All Being One

Anno Domini is an amazing Brazilian artist. His inspirations come from daily life experiences of the diverse population of its residents (European, Japanese and Latin American descent) as well as his search for life's meaning through spirituality, alchemy and cultural symbolisms.
